Spessartites (or spessartines) have been found in Sri Lanka, Upper Burma, Madagascar, Brazil, Australia, Kenya and Tanzania. the most important sources today are Nigeria and northeast Namibia, in the vicinity of the Marienfluss River. The mandarin garnet is a very special gem. There is its color, that sparkling orange, sometimes with slight brown undertones, in the entire range of hues from red-orange, yellow- orange, bright yellow, and pure orange.. shades which speak of energy and joie de vivre, character and a willingness to take risks.
